Central 4 Wheel Drive was established in 1966 as one of the first of a few small 4-wheel drive centers in the country. In those days, Basil Smith (Smittybilt) was building roll bars for Willys Jeeps at home in his garage, Clarence Shook (Rancho Suspension) was buying and selling military surplus parts, and Bob Ames was publishing Four Wheeler Magazine in his home. Over the years the industry has changed tremendously and Central 4 Wheel Drive has grown to become one of the largest "pure" Truck and 4 Wheel Drive Accessory companies in the nation. We have retail stores and warehouse locations in California, Oregon and Washington as well as an international mail order and Internet division.
