Corbeau Seating

If you've spent any time at all viewing the Trial and Error section of our web page, you know that Steel Horse has a loyal following. That is, a loyal group who think their products are absolute garbage. Well, you can include me in that group, too: A couple of years ago we purchased two new Steel Horse seats and a center console for our Project Scrambler. The driver's seat lasted about 6 months before the cushioning flattened out and the vinyl ripped. Sad as it is, that was good compared to the durability of the center console. The console went about 3 months before the lid ripped the screws out of the particle board. Shortly after that, my elbow went through the center console at the cupholders. As you can see below, our interior was in dire need of a makeover.

Occasionally during the build-up of a vehicle, a certain modification becomes instantly gratifying; this is one of them. It took about 30 minutes to remove the Steel Horse seats and center console, and gleefully toss all of that garbage into the dumpster. Then we mounted two new Corbeau Targa RS seats, in grey cloth, using Corbeau mounting brackets. As seen in the photos, these bucket seats are extremely supportive. No more sliding across the seat while taking a turn too fast, and no more banging against the door when encountering a large bump in the road that wasn't there last time. The seats come equipped with holes in the headrest to add 4- or 5-point harnesses. The Corbeau seats combined with racing style harnesses will provide the ultimate in driving control.

Unlike the Steel Horse seats, the Corbeau seats will recline or flip fully forward and the new brackets allow both driver- and passenger-side to slide back and forth as needed. The new brackets mount to the existing holes in the floor making installation a "no-brainer".

Not only do the Corbeau seats look much better and keep your butt firmly planted, they are also very comfortable. They are even available with an inflatable lumbar support for those long days behind the wheel. When you are in the market for some new seats, don't let the price of the "Plastic Pony" disposable seating sucker you in. Do it right the first time and check out the available seating from Corbeau.
