Go Rancho

Once again Dirt Road staffers hit the red-rock in full force for the annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. All geared up and laoded to the gills with Coleman supplies, we started with the Hole In The Rock trail - MileMarker winch at the ready.

Our trail group met at the Cal Black Airport, approximately 150 miles southwest of Moab. Here we gassed up Stubby, aired-down with the help of Oasis, and released our Rancho disconnects.

For those of you not familiar with the Hole In The Rock Trail, it is Easter Jeep Safari's only 3-day trail trip, and covers sixty miles of an old Mormon trail. Camp is set up roughly 15 miles from the trailhead, and is used for both nights.

The trail itself holds many surprises, including a little something called the "Chute", where we were unfortunate enough to have to set a Suzuki Samurai back on its wheels after it tumbled first onto its roof, then over onto its side. This challenging and fun trail ends within sight of a famous Mormon crossing called Hole In The Rock.
