Ever drool over a real nice Jeep? Sure, we all do it and I'm no
different. But when I saw this 1957 Willys CJ5 in a local 4x4 shop,
I had to find out more.
Apparently, the original owner was an older gentleman of failing health,
and sometime in the 1970's
he disassembled the Jeep with just 30,000 miles
on the odometer, and packed a large portion of it in grease! From there,
the Jeep was stored in the back of a barn until about 3 years ago, when it
was bought "as is". The body was repainted, and the seats were
re-upohlstered. That's it! This Jeep is about as orignial as you can get,
it's uncut, unmolested, and, well, perfect!
What makes this Jeep so rare is that it's a true Willys CJ5. It
rides on "CO-OP" tires, which last saw production in the mid-1960's.
It also appears to have some sort of canoe-carrier option.
It was brought to the local shop for some simple repairs: Tie-rod ends,
speedo-rebuild and some other items, all of which are being replaced with
original replacement parts.
My dream Jeep? Sure, why not? We all need something to shoot for!
