Greg Bowman's 1961 CJ-5 "Heather"

Greg Anthony's CJ-5 "Heather" has a 1961 Fiberglass replica tub using a 1983 CJ-5 chassis sitting on a 2 inch body lift over 33x12.5 tires. The engine is a stock 258 6 cyl. using the T-4 tranny and dana 300 transfer case. Everything is pretty much stock. I bought a 4" suspension lift (not on Jeep yet) and shocks and dropped pitman arm from a kid in Indiana whole rolled his Jeep after having the suspension kit on for less than 4 months! I'm just starting to fix her up, so hopefully this summer she'll be finished and I can update some new pics!

Edwin Reighard's Early CJ-5 Project

Edwin Reighard's Early CJ-5 Project

"Here is a picture of my project. It is an early CJ5 (I'm not sure of the exact year). I picked it up with a bent frame and a tattered 'glass tub. I glassed the body back together, smoothed it, and sprayed it '70 Grabber Green in my backyard. I cut off the back half of the frame and made my own out of 2"x 4" retangular stock as the original had been hit/bent/welded beyond repair. Also used the same 2x4 tubing to make my front and rear bumpers and nerf bars.

I picked up some 50" long springs from a salvage yard and did a SOA making my own spring anchors and shackles. I narrowed and swapped in a Dana 44 front axle from a Wagoneer and converted it to high steering using 1" thick steel steering arms I carved out with my radial arm saw and angle grinder.

My tie rods are 1.25" thick wall seamless tubing with 3/4" chrome moly heim joints. I still need to do my gear swaps and plan on using 4.56 gears and detroits. I did a Saginaw power steering conversion with a Camaro tilt colum and borgeson stainless joints.

Power comes from a .040"+ Chevy 350 warmed over with Edelbrock intake, headers, .440" lift cam and gear drive. I mated this to a Ford NP435 granny 4 speed using a Lakewood scattershield drilled to match the Ford tranny's bolt pattern. Other than machining down the tranny's front bearing retainer a few thousandths it was a bolt in swap. I mated the NP435 to a Dana 300 using a Novak adapter and mainshaft kit. My Tom Wood's CV driveshaft should be here in a few days and once I get all my stainless brake tubing and braided lines plumbed, I should be able to move the Jeep under its own power (after 2 years, 500+ hours, $7000, and 2 trips to the hospital to have metal removed from my eye). I Herculined the inside of the tub, threw in a couple of Sumit buckets and Autometer gauges, and welded up a full cage for the interior. Hope you like it!"

Scott & Cindi O Brien's 1982 CJ-7

Scott & Cindi O Brien's 1982 CJ-7

"It has a 4” BDS suspension lift, JKS sway bar disconnects, a 1” body lift and 33X15.50 TSL SX Super Swamper’s mounted on Eagle 589 rims. Its powered by a rebuilt AMC 360 with dual exhaust and backed by a ford T-18 transmission to a Dana 300 transfer case. Heavy-duty summer brother axles help the stock AMC 20 in the rear and a stock Dana 30 up front; unfortunately, stock gears no locker yet. A Warn 9000 helps it through the places that the right foot can’t make it through and a cobra CB backs up the warn. It has a six-point roll cage to protect its next owner (my son). This picture was taken on one of the 2001 Camp Jeep trails in the beautiful Virginia Mountains. JEEP POWER AT ITS BEST"
