Rob Wikstrom's 1978 CJ5

Rob Wikstrom's 1978 CJ5

Rob's CJ5 has a freshly painted fiberglass body with new seats out of a Honda CRX, custom made front & rear bumpers and nerf bars provide protection.

It also has a custom tire/Hi-Lift rack mounted to the rear bumper for trips, the manual steering was pulled out and replaced with a tilt column and power steering box out of a 1982 CJ7, and the current lift consists of 2.5" Superlift springs, 2" body lift and 1/2" shackles.  This setup clears a new set of 33" Super Swampers on 15x10" Outlaw II rims.

He installed Mosser one-piece axles in the AMC 20 rear end, Lock-Right lockers front and rear and 4.56 gears.

The 304 was pulled out and rebuilt with a new Crane Cam, Edelbrock Manifold, Holly 4-barrel carb with off-road needles, timing chain and distributor. He also added an Optima battery and an MSD Blaster II Coil.  Headers and custom bent dual pipes handle the exaust.

Gary's 1983 CJ8 Scrambler

Gary's 1983 CJ8 Scrambler

Gary's '83 Scrambler has 102,000 miles, a rebuilt I-6, A/C, AM/FM cassette, and many new parts.

"Recently I had it painted Ford Performance red, did a spring-over lift, purchased a full hard-top (not in the photo), and 33x14.50 MT's. There are many more changes I'd like to make (you know the list!), and will over the next year or two. I do take it of road occasionally, and was very surprised to see the difference a spring-over makes. I love your Jeep page." - Gary

Mike Phelan's 1984 CJ7

Mike Phelan's 1984 CJ7

Mike just finished the body - 12 coats "Radar Blue Metallic" w/6 coats clear. The dash and Interior panels are cherry veneered, and the 32" Michelin's are new (they fit fine on the street, but he's not too sure about off-road). The next upgrade will be the suspension...perhaps Warn's new coil spring conversion?

Matt King's 1980 CJ7 Matt King's 1980 CJ7

Matt King's 1980 CJ7

Matt's CJ has been a two year project.  First, he located a rust free tub and frame. Next was the build-up.  He started with '77 axles that had low miles on them and the 11" brakes he wanted. A nice suprise was the factory limited slip rear that came with the set. He knew the tranny was going to be a slushbox so the factory AMC20 was OK. Next was finding a Commando with the TH400 so he could use the factory adapter to a model 20. He already had a 455 Pontiac with low miles on the engine stand, so that was his only choice. Tons of low rpm torque! The lift was a 4", so he needed to put CV shafts at both ends. The front shaft is a Quadratrac unit from a CJ. The rear shaft is a front Quadratrac from a J-10. Only the front shaft needed to be shortened. Next, he used the radiator from the same J-10 and had the inlet and outlet switched, and had it re-cored. After the mechanical crap, he found a 1980 4-cyl wiring harness hooked up to the engine with no mods, cool.  With over 300hp on tap, a full cage was necessary. Sanding, painting and assembling were next. Everything was either replaced or rebuilt in the course of two years, and he still has ideas if he keeps this one.

"I have a real desire to build a '60-62 wagon next. I scored the 7 and it came out 220. Not too bad!" - Matt
