Randall Becht's 1976 CJ7 - Yes, CJ7
After touring the Hummer factory a year ago, Randall thought to hisself "I can build this
on any platform." So, he told his company owners that he could build it. They challenged him to
do so, and donated 3 sheets of metal for the cause. First he had to locate a doner truck,
and found none available. So he heard about this 1976 Jeep CJ7 rusted badly. So that's what he
started with. Took off the body and the frame broke in half, and had to build a frame from
the front springs back - he had to make it longer anyway. He went through the chassis, motor,
tranny, and axles.
He made all parts from scratch, like the shackles, drive-shafts, muffler,
stainless steel parts, the bumpers, and added a Reese hitch. Then he built a body out of
14-gauge metal, complete with side impact panels. The scale of the Hummer is 7/8's, so it
will fit in a door, but only by 2 inches. He painted it with Ford Cobra Black PPG/urethane and
6 coats of clear. It has 15x12 inch wheels, mounted with 40-inch GroundHawgs. He also had to
make a lift kit which was made up of 3" blocks and a spring over flip. The shocks are one-ton
GM. The motor, tranny, and tranfer were then lowered 6" into the frame to correct U-Joint
angles and weight distibution.

David Swatloski's 1986 CJ7 "AfterMidnight"
"AfterMidnight" is a 1986 CJ7, and it has a 258 with a four-speed transmission,
which was purchased from the original owner when it had only 96,000 on it.
It has 31x10.50's on stock wheels, and it is about to get a 2-inch lift.

Rick Richter's 1978 CJ-5
When Rick bought his CJ a year ago in Texas, he was surprised to find that it didn't
really have much rust on it. Jeeps around Corpus Christi are usually solid rust, but this
one was almost perfect. It has a 304, 33" BFG All Terrains, 10" Chrome Mods, 2" lift kit and
a T-150 3-speed. It only had 68,000 miles on it when he bought it and the motor needed a little
TLC, but it runs great now. He recently stripped the floorboards and installed one of those
do-it-yourself rubberized bedliner coatings in it and it really turned out great. It took
a while to do it right, sanding, cleaning, and rustproofing, but he doesn't have to worry about
the orange menace eating away at his floorboards anymore.

Troy Clayton's 1983 CJ-7
Here are some pictures of my 1983 CJ-7. I just spent the last 4 months
rebuilding it. I swapped in a Chevy 350 and SM 465 tranny. I kept the
stock Dana 300 by using an Advanced adapter. I also put in 3/4 ton Chevy
axles that I cut down to fit. 4.56 gears, Detroit rear, EZ Locker front,
Moser shaft, 4 wheel discs and 36 inch Swamps. Also a spring-over and 2
1/2 inch springs and a full cage. Everything was fabricated or new, but
all the work was done by me with help from my Dad and some friends. It
scored a 295 on your scale (I think I was cheated ;-)....). Its more fun
then ever!
