Shay Bailey's 1983 CJ7

Mark Hansen's 1948 CJ-2A

"What a great web page." Mark's CJ is all original except the Rancho lift and Big O 32X11.50 tires.

"I completely rebuilt the engine, tranny and axles.  The body has had two sheets of sheet metal welded in to repair the rust.  I am in the process of grafting in the Willys stamps in the new Steel Horse hood, this will finish the body.  I did all the work myself with exception of the machine work on the original engine.  My teenager and I are enjoying getting into the mud and hills around Castle Rock, CO." - Mark

Chuck Payne's 1953 CJ2A - Before Chuck Payne's 1953 CJ2A - After

Chuck Payne's 1953 CJ2A

"This 1953 CJ-2A started out as a bone stock rig when I acquired it. Over the past five years it has swallowed many many hours and even more money, but it is almost finished...(right). It is now equipped with a 1989 Swirlport 305 Chevrolet, carbureted by Edelbrock on a Performer manifold. A Cloyes double roller timing chain set is installed with the cam timing advanced 4 deg. for great response off-idle. A single serpentine belt drives the reverse rotation water pump, 130 amp alternator, power steering pump, and air conditioning compressor (now providing compressed air for the air system). The engine is cooled with a custom built offset 3 (desert) core style radiator and a Flex-A-Lite dual electric fan package controlled by an adjustable temperature/air compressor relay. Power is delivered to the x-fer case by a unifit TH350 automatic trans. which is outfitted with a 950 r.p.m. stall converter and a manual valve body shifted w/ a Hurst, reverse lockout ratchet shifter. Also assisting the delivery process is a Warn 'all-range overdrive' and a spicer T-18 x-fer case, adapted by Novak Enterprises.

The axle's consist of a front DANA 30, rear DANA 44 offset. Both are outfitted with disc brakes and ARB "air lockers" (best money I ever spent). 5.38 gears help turn the rubber...Q78-15-LT bias Buckshots on front/ 16x35x15 Super Swamper "BOGGERS" in back, both on custom offset wheels for articulation and steering clearance (wheels are different widths to maintain circumference).

The suspension consists of BENZ custom leaf springs and two pairs of Rancho RS9000 shocks controlled by the in cab dampening level controls. The front springs have the shackles reversed for better geometry. I could go on forever (nearly), so some other quick luxuries are, Hunsaker seats, R.C.I. 5-point harnesses, Specialty Power Window custom electric wiper conversion, twin custom stainless fuel cells, custom full roll cage (been tested....and tested...and tested), Bellvue 6000 lb. winch, in-dash glove box, front and rear bumpers serve as air storage tanks with outlets at both (good for setting beads back on tires....100p.s.i. X 4 gal.). Known to have happened once or twice when running @ 4 lbs., All equipment on this Jeep has undergone extensive testing and I hereby acknowledge it to be...FAR OUT!!

P.S. I also belong to the Outlaw 4X4'S (a club located in Yakima,WA.)" - Chuck

Steve Forman's 1948 CJ2A

Steve Forman's 1948 CJ2A

Steve has just finished a 2-1/2 year restore. He went nuts on the detail, and he's almost afraid to drive it. Everything is clean down to the last bolt.

"Next restore is a '52 M38. This thing is all there. Even has original Army markings for the driver under the hood. Still needs a full body off (nothing else is acceptable), but I am anxious the get started. This time I know I can bypass alot of bull. I also have a database of all of the parts by vendor." - Steve

Chris Lewis' 1947 CJ2A Chris Lewis' 1947 CJ2A Chris Lewis' 1947 CJ2A

Chris Lewis' 1947 CJ2A

Chris purchased his CJ nearly six years ago in almost stock, but poor condition. It had an F-head 4-cyl. in it that stuck through the hood. Someone had fabricated an ugly sheet metal box that sat on the hood to cover the air cleaner. That was fine, and he drove it for nearly a year until one day the master cylinder went bad. It was hard to get at sitting there under the floorboard, and the body was kind of loose anyway, so one thing led to another and the next thing he knew, his Jeep sat in a pile of parts in the back yard...much to his wife's dismay.

Nearly a year and a lot of grinding scraping and cleaning later, a nice little Jeep appeared out of that pile of parts. The original drivetrain was there, except for a 305 Chevy. It worked great, until he joined a Jeep club and found that he couldn't follow the guys that had lockers. So in they went. That's when the old axles broke and were replaced with axles From a '74 CJ5. Then the original T90 tranny broke, again and was replaced with a NP435 4spd. By this time the 305 was knocking so in went a 350 - mmmmmmm, power. The Jeep was perfect; well almost. So now he has hung Wrangler springs under it.

"I have to say the Wrnagler springs were the single best improvement yet. 40" of flex with an 80" wheelbase, cool. So it's done, well the 4.56 gears came in yestarday..." - Chris
